John receives his award from Bailli Provincial Joerg Boekeler
Congratulations to John Azagarian from the InterContinental Sydney who came first in the NSW Young Chef’s competition held at TAFE Ryde campus. John and the other four competitors, Brodie Davies, Tegan Friedl, Ashleigh Waler and Paula Rapada prepared a three course meal for consideration by a panel of eminent judges. John will represent NSW at the Australian National Finals to be held in Adelaide in April.
The table judges were Fritz Gubler, Publisher, Gault and Millau Australia, Ralf Brügger, Group General Manager Escarpment Group, Nelly Robinson, Owner and Executive Chef, Nel Restaurant, Pierre Issa, Head Pepe Saya, and Stephen Lech, Acting Executive Chef, InterContinental Sydney. The Kitchen Judges were headed by Karen Doyle, Senior Lecturer TAFE.
John received $500 in cash, a magnum of Moet Champagne, a Gault&Millau Restaurant Review, books by Fritz Gubler on eating, a free trip to Adelaide for the National finals (and the possibility of heading to Germany for the international finals). All competitors received thank you prizes.
The winner in Adelaide will represent Australia at the international finals to be held in Frankfurt in September.
